Tempe, Ariz. (October 27, 2020) – ASU ScaleU, a higher education technology accelerator at Arizona State University, recently added Ensightful to its growing portfolio of companies.
Ensightful, a team management platform that aids college students with completing team assignments on time, will benefit from ASU ScaleU’s investment, resources to support the company’s growth and the opportunity to pilot its technology on a large, public research university platform.
“We are excited to add Ensightful to our portfolio of companies that support the emerging needs of the university and higher education overall,” said Bennett Dwosh, director of strategy and venture acceleration for ASU Enterprise Partners. “This company stepped up and built a tool that is very timely and relevant to a COVID-19 world of collaboration that benefits students and faculty.”
Ensightful’s digital platform enables students to plan and manage team assignments through a user-friendly dashboard, communicate with teammates and the instructor, share project files, and hold each other accountable to meet deadlines. Instructors receive insights on teams’ progress so they can help teams stay on track and evaluate student performance fairly.
“Ensightful helped me to pinpoint major issues for teams where students were not contributing and enabled me to address such behaviors in week two rather than finding out about it in week seven,” says Elizabeth Mays, a lecturer in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at ASU.
The company has more than 15 pilots at universities and colleges in the U.S. and Canada. A pilot has begun with ASU Online students in the current semester with more to come in the spring semester.
Ensightful is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and was co-founded by Chris Du and Rick Cha. They created the company following college where they experienced team projects that lacked collaboration.
“We want to improve how team work is done; we want it to be more enjoyable,” Du said. “We want all the members to have a positive collaboration experience, and help improve their soft skills throughout the project.”
